There
is only one road separating the villa from the 400 metre
walk to the palm tree lined beach.
The
villa is situated between Alicante and Murcia, making it
easily accessible from either airport. It is approximately
30 minutes drive from Alicante Airport and 15 minutes drive
from Murcia
Airport.
Villa
Costa Blanca is just a five-minute walk from a variety of
local shops, bars and restaurants. It is only a short drive
to Villa Martin, which offers a range of shops, bars and
restaurants. There are
also
several water parks and golf courses in the area.
Alicante
and Torrevieja
Alicante is the official capital of the Costa Blanca, and is popular
all year round, although it has a reputation as
a winter resort because of its mild and clement climate. The
bay of Alicante has two capes, and the largest beach is San
Juan, a short distance from the capital. It's lined with villas,
hotels, and restaurants, so you don’t have far to go
from your sun-lounger for refreshments!
Alicante
is a picturesque town to stroll around on a lazy afternoon,
with a great promenade of mosaic sidewalks under
the palms that extends around the yacht harbour. All the boulevards
are clean and lined with unlimited shopping options. This is
an ideal place to shop for handmade ceramics, hand-tooled leather,
woodcarvings, ornamental boxes, candleholders, and small-scale
mosaics. In Alicante's leading department store, El Corte Inglés,
you can find bargains without being trampled by mobs, as in
Madrid. Alicante is also known for its parks, gardens, and
lines of palm trees, and it boasts several old plazas, some
paved with marble.
Alicante
is an excellent centre for culture, with inexpensive options
for touring local historical sites and a wonderful
gallery featuring art by Miró, Calder, Cocteau, Vasarély,
Dalí, Picasso, Tàpies, Braque, Chagall, Giacometti,
Kandinsky, and Zadkine among others, for which admission is
free.
Alicante
also boasts an eclectic array of bars, nightclubs, cafes
and restaurants, so it is bound to have a venue to suit
everyone’s tastes!
Torrevieja is
a relatively new town, as in the early 19th century it consisted
of only a few houses besides the watch
towers that gave it its name. Today, however, it is Europe’s
prime salt-producer, and you can find out all about the history
of this industry in the unique Museum of the Sea and Salt.
It also plays host to The International Habaneras and Choral
Song Competition, and the surrounding lakes have been declared
a Nature Reserve due to their wetland ecosystem and for the
ecological habitat they provide for migratory and nesting birds.
Torrevieja’s
main attraction to holidaymakers, though, is the coastline,
which boasts several magnificent sandy beaches. If you want
to see them all at once, there are boat trips running the
length of Torrevieja’s
coast.
